a cold hello to all
I am new and I have just written in addition to the valuable resource that is the forum, to find also valid people to confront me now that after so many years I would like to land in the professional world.

I would like to put myself in collaboration with friends and start to bake some concrete projects, and I am wondering what the best software situation is to start, since some real license will sooner or later serve. . .
I think I understand that the most used software solution is usually rhino with 3dmax but sn two software I don't know much.

for what is my experience I have always worked in solidworks or proes (depending on the need,.. but also inventor seems interesting) for mechanical design, and alias (which could be replaced by rhino) for the realization of models of superfice.
But now that I should cum the nits I don't know exactly how to configure the situation. . There are a lot of software and autodesk (of which I would now like to integrate sketchbook) has changed a lot of things! !

What would be the ideal situation for you to imagine setting up a small design studio mainly devoted to product design, with engineering skills?

I suppose well that inventor would manage the boards easily in autocad unlike others?
I have seen that now there is also a plug in for integral in alias..fico... But I think it would cost not little. .

I hope you will help me, every advice is well accepted!!! Shoot me all about your experience!!

Bye-bye

in my opinion we must ask:
1) what work I want to do or I will go to do (in which fields)
2) who are the companies that can pass me work in those fields, and obviously that sw use (try to inquire).
or what are the standard sw in the above fields
3) I will work in 2d or I must/I want to pass in 3d (I mean boards on 3d boards not occasionally)
4) what are the sw I know or want to know (so I feel + brought)
5) budget

autocad+rhino+3dsmax can be good + inventor for mechanics (precision) is an excellent suite.
I do not know solidworks and pro-e, but inventor had problems with autocad, in the sense that he was pulling up the dwg of autocad but making the reverse passage was (time ago) impossible.
I hope they have improved it in the meantime.
in any case each of these sw has its own dedicated forum here on the site, you should go in there and ask for sw information for sw.
Happy Christmas

rhino + catia v5 :finger:

I suggest you ask for copies of the programs you need and evaluate them one by one: the software is like a mental extension, each person is different and different are the approaches.

even the graphic aspect is fundamental, as of course the type of interface:cool:: Let us not forget that these software have been written (and improved) by groups of people even quite different from each other, who have developed programs that also do the same things, but with distinct peculiarities.

In short, do not settle for the friend's advice, try in person!

always depends on the type of support you want to offer to vs customers.
I think a good compromise gives him solid edge. powerful in 3d (mechanical and sometimes even in design) and fantastic in 2d (I intend to transform your 3d into 2d).
personally I always work with rhino even if it turns out to be super uncomfortable especially in the changes (even slight) not to mention the transformation in 2d. call to the usual 4 or 5 problemons (collections and bevels included) I think the expense is worth it. with little less than a thousand euros you have a powerful flexible and reliable product.
this does not apply to solid edge which, even if sold with lt licenses (which clashes) costs so much.
if you have to create complicated design models alias and rhino.... the first costs a bang the second much less.
Hi.

depends on your budget.
rhino costs little... but it also gives you little compared to a mechanical cad from the point of view of industrialization.
if your budget is around 10,000 + iva then the pro/e+modulo isdx+ pro/concept solution can be a great solution for concept+design+product industrialization.

Of course:wink: spaceclaim + rhino:

- mechanical cad
- cad for style and design
- interoperative between cad formats
- integration between 2 software
- put to the table
- expandability fem
- sheet metal module
- total cost less than 5000€
