i can't import step

I have to import into modeling two big steps, one even 150 mb, but it gives me graphite error etc etc. (the other from 20 mb I only care a few bits). I remember long ago, that in the import it worked much better 3d access.

was a "illustrative" design for an offer, so I found a similar set, of different supplier, and I adapted the quotas, however I think the step can be opened through inventor and then saved in another type satellite format, iges etc.
