Bye to all,
I have some problem importing asc files with rhino4.
I followed another similar discussion and read the online guide on how to import points clouds. the result is the same: Rhino tells me I imported correctly, but I don't see anything on the screen.
What can I do?
Hi.
I attach a file

The problem is tied to the floating values. in your file the values of the various 3d odds are represented with the decimal separator, (the comma) while rhino is expected to find the . (point).

with an editor I replaced all the characters, with the . so I could easily load the cloud of points. see image image

I don't know if setting rhino in Italian is sufficent, unfortunately I use it only in the English language (to avoid this type of problem) and I can't test it.

Thank you for your help.
So if I understood correctly. it will not be easy to get a stl file from this cloud of points.iomi expected to see a shaped file.
Who editor did you use? Are there any other methods?

in rhino there are two commands to create mesh from a cloud of points...no one of them works.

personally I don't think it's such a serious lack because usually those who work with scanned models don't have the problem of creating mesh, scanning equipment has provided their outgoing software provides the stl of the scanned piece.

It would be more serious not to have all those commands that allow me to work on the mesh, and luckily rhino is well equipped in this respect.

the text editor I used is called context and is freeware, you can download it from here ..
http://www.contexteditor.org/manages well also large files.
