insert only a part of an external reference with autocad 2011

good morning to all, I would have this need: I should insert a part of an external reference in a drawing. is it possible? I try to explain myself better.I have to insert as xref a dwg that contains the classic "view, plant and lift" but to me it is necessary to insert only the plant.
