install new version without losing settings

hi I wanted to ask what the most logical procedure was to have the same modeling and annotation settings when installing the new version; of its modeling should save all the settings locally in a folder, so it should be enough to save and overwrite the folder, that containing the various files customize etc after the installation of the new version, but in reality many installations (we have as softwarehouse the cdm) are centralized and therefore lose, for example at startup it goes to read a file loader in a server folder.
so I asked if someone else had the cdm and had found a standard procedure not to lose shortcut etc.; they usually suggest using their interface management command etc., but it always worked for me maluccio (in fact I check it out at startup), you can manage it better?

then, already copying the folder into appdata/roaming/ptc/etcetcetc. you should recover a lot. Then as for personalizations you should look at how the link from which you start the cad. I for example double click on a desktop link that is done like this:

you should go and see where your site points and update the link of the new version.

hi, we are also followed by the same company, unfortunately we also had the same drawbacks to the change from 18.1 to 19.
the parameters that modeling loads at startup we have divided them, both on server and on personal pc, because on the server we go to save the general settings, materials, 2d models to use for the boards etc.
while on personal pcs we save user settings as background color and custom icons, so that everyone is free to handle at least those settings as they best believe.
server side to version change you don’t have to do anything, the cdm will create a new folder with settings to load. side users the thing is different, because if you are independent to do the update you decide, otherwise the guy who spys everything and you have to remake the things user side from head.
to avoid it make a copy of the pmdirect.data folder and paste it into the new path.
the route is: c:\users\name\appdata\roaming\ptc\creo elements direct modeling 19.0
when we made the change while copying this folder some commands were not visible, perhaps because in the new version they were different, however most should find them.

I created a folder with all business settings and macros divided between 3d and 2d, and created a cmd script for modeling launch, using variables :
sdcorpcustomizedir (as a variable of corporate customizations)
and
sdsitecustomizedir (variable of cdm customizations)

I think you are far more informed than me, probably the best thing for us would be to take a cue from your suggestion and make it to the installation cdm technician.
a small problem could already be found settings etc, because the local ones are in the folder reached with %appdata% those "commun" should be in the server in the various installation folders; I honestly hoped to find that folder by doing a search for the "loader" file that is the launch file, but I don't think I found anything.

Hardly the cdm technician will do it to you...
we keep company settings in a network folder (sdcorpcustomizedir) , while the settings of the individual user that are locally do not consider them . . .if a user misses something we delete his settings locally and restart with those company (which are in my opinion predominant)
Nothing prohibits creating personal folders on the net!
