hello to all, I would have urgency to learn how to use psalmèmeca to complete thesis and I have no experience of such programs. I read practically all the recent articles of this and other forums but frankly I don’t understand how the program is structured and therefore I don’t know what the files I have to download to make it work. for now I have only created a virtual machine and installed caelinux, the professor assured me that for the use I have to do (and for the time I have available) a solution of this type is sufficient. Could you first explain to me what steps I have to do and the links that allow me to correctly place the installation?

I was also told that the program provides tutorials, right? are enough to learn basic commands?

If you installed caelinux you should already find the software installed. Have you tried to look among the various installed applications?

I had to create a new virtual machine because the previous one stuck and I'm reinstalling caelinux so I'll tell you in a while, before I didn't see it but it's easy that I'm wrong because I was convinced (the prof) that I had to install other components. so rigor after installing caelinux there are no other operations to do? Is everything preinstalled and I could start my fem analysis?

Yes, it should be, the only problem is that the soft included in caelinux are not very up-to-date. If you go well with English I suggest you look at the forum on www.code-aster.org, there are most experienced users.

Sorry ignorance, I knew the software included in caelinux is not the most up-to-date but if I unload and install
code aster version 12.5
salomè-meca version 2015. 2
That's the latest versions, aren't they okay?

I want to see you install it! what you download is only the sources and you have to fill it in by hand, and first install all the dependencies, it's a very complex job.

This is self-installing and pre-compiled, and also contains code-aster. You're all right with this, and you don't need anything else.
