I have a cam opening a valve.

how can I simulate the opening of the valve with the kinematics module if initially the cam is not in contact with the plate?

Can I tell the program "ok.... at first the cam turns free for tot degrees and then comes in contact with the plate and opens the valve"?

if you do not want to study the dynamics of contact you can create a formula that binds the corner to the race. for which the race will be zero for the corners from x to y and then sinusoidale from y to z.
