Good evening, I am a student in mechanical engineering and
should I buy a good machine building book what do you recommend? ? ?

Hi.
as you will surely read in other discussions the most popular books are:

- juvinall-mashek = basics of the design of the components of the machines.
- shigley = project and construction of machines.

I both have them but at the university they have let us use as a text book the shigley.
are great books.

in addition to the above mentioned, you may also be interested in:
- construction of machines - bernasconi-filippini-giglio
- construction of machines- nerli-pierini

I thank you for the answers :) for now I have bought the manual of the mechanical engineer of the hoepli.

Well, let's say it's two different things.

In my opinion you have made a good purchase, but if you need the theoretical treatment of the machine construction exam, perhaps the texts that recommended you pierarg and abelli12 are more indicated.
I add one: "construction of machines - johns", perhaps it is not very recent, at least the edition I consulted in faculty, but it seems done well.

Shigley! clear and immediate! I mean what a designer needs...

Hello counterblow,
an additional reason why I prefer shigley is that there are units of measurement in si...the juvinall book has the imperial system.
I'll be here but I hate to make conversions every time. I'm playing psi, inch, etc.

too tartufon, the john can not fail to have it!
treats well the design of components like biellas and trees.
It is very "academic" in the treatment of dentate wheels.

I'll explain better, I'm doing the mechanics specialist,
construction of machines I made it to the triennial ahimè without buying any book but only using dispenses.
Now I will have to make a project regarding the construction of a machine in a very detailed way (analytical analysis, dynamics, dimensioning, detailing, trave theory, fem(ansys), etc.), and as it is right to make a mini-libreria inherent to your profession I would like to buy a good textbook, since I have really few, for now I only bought the manual.(I hope it is useful).

depends on everything you have to do. . .

I who deal with moulds and small static designs and fatigue shigley is enough to me, indeed I would not change it conaltri as it is properly explained the holistic fatigue design that I need; If, for example, in your life you will take care of dense wheels (from design to cut) you cannot do to own the heriot.

It is clear the importance of possessing the "bibbies" related to their field, but it is also clear that they serve side texts: a mechanical designer who doesn't know a metallurgical woman doesn't go anywhere. one who often designs welded structures, perhaps with different materials from time to time, must know in addition to the theory of welds also metallurgy and a bit of ironing, otherwise it could run the risk of making cagates, perhaps as children, but that on the rump will cost him a few miles of euros.

I hope I've explained...
