macro corruption - wordpad vs notepad

Good morning, everyone!

Since we went from wildfire 3 to creo 2, I started having some problems regarding macros.
in particular I noticed that often the macro was "planting" and was not performed completely.
Inquiring I realized that opening the config.pro with the wordpad editor (write), a text character of the macro had been replaced by a square, as if it did not recognize that font (see attachment). opening instead the config.pro with the known block (notepad), everything seemed correct: it seemed, because the macro did not want to know to turn.
as the first "intervention" I thought, through wordpad, to remove the hulled character with the correct one. apparently everything ok, but after some time (hours, days, interval altogether random) the same problem is resumed in the text of other macros (also this random).
Since the problem has become frequent (I often use macros and I often add new ones) we have opened a call to ptc support (by sending our config.pro on their request).
after a different time they responded to us and I refer to you the "sentence":
"r&d says the config.pro in question contains many corruptions.are due to the wordpad that is unable to edit the utf-8 coding without corrupting the data. "I started using the notepad as editor, and "talk" that those problems have disappeared.

two considerations:

1 - in wf3 I used wordpad and never had such a problem

2 - the macros I had, apart from corruptions, work perfectly also in creo 2

Did any of you have any such problems?

probably is the end-line character that maybe is converted from unix mode to windows mode when saved with wordpad.

to avoid any problem, use notespad++, is perfect!
hi hunting, I had read something around, but ahimé I have the pc stuck (in the sense that I can not install anything, usb doors disabled, dvd reader disabled, etc.), and if I ask something to the ced (default) laughs behind me... .
ergo, if notepad (the one for common mortals ) not from problems, I would say that I solved it like this. Thank you very much anyway! :finger:

I was just curious to know if someone had my own problem, or if I'm the only loser.

I do not remember if notepad++ installs even without admin deprivation, in your doc & settings, maybe yes. compared to notepad is another planet.

However this thing of it managers who think that the whole world must be at their feet instead of the contrary must end!!!!

I could try, but anyway I'd be caxxiato "You don't know you don't have to install anything?" ...but baff...

I don't generalize, but ours is really a bad being.... I just tell you that program scans and defrag during the working time.... : eek::mad:

hi, and if I install the portable version

I use these versions to not dirty the pc, in theory they should keep everything inside their folder and if you're fed up just delete the folder

Hi.
Hello, Mamobono!

thanks for the info, I downloaded the portable version, which in fact (if I did not wrong) asks me to be installed, but it simply seems to extract the necessary files in a local folder.
For now I will try this way, I will let you know in the future how things go.

Thank you all! :finger:
