I with solidworks tried to create a surface from a stl file created with a 3d scanner but the software returns me an error saying that the file consists of too many polygons and solidworks can not manage them.
while using freecad it worked me, I put a couple of days processing but it managed, the problem is that the outgoing file is almost 3 gb the incoming one of about 50mb, and a file so heavy in step I do nothing, my purpose is to have the encumbrance machine for integrations.

from the 2016 version the scanto3d is part of the professional version, before needed the premium. However, but here I go off topic, from solidworks 2018 the system also provides basic mesh bodies that allow to exceed the previous limits of polygons.
