management i-properties and file names

Bye to all,
I often start a project by giving temporary file names and without knowing the numbers part; I then go to assign them later, to a more defined project.
in any case I often need to re-edit the file names, date, designer, project, material etc.

now I do it in half with design assistant and half with the manager of the base distinct inside the assemblies.

Can someone recommend me a procedure, software or application to improve these operations, which take away a lot of time and it is easy to make mistakes?

I don't know if it does to my case some version of vault (which I almost don't know) or productstream (I'm alone with some occasional collabs, I wouldn't. "I'd like" to spend money to buy a software maybe oversized). I found a user talking about iprop wizard, but apart from having problems with ais2010... It doesn't seem like the best.

if design assistant worked well and allowed me to customize the columns of the properties, you could do everything from there, but also talking to those who help me, it seems that the defect is widespread (the customization window looks white to everyone) and that autodesk does not intend to implement much this.. "accessory."

Does anyone have any better solutions to suggest? :

according to me:
1) by means of disposition of the assieme father you manage all the i-properties you need (as I understand, already you do);
2) for the file name and number part, in order not to take risks, you may use the vault; with it you can rename each file and, with a small check, update also the corresponding number part.

What vault do you use? the one included in the inventor package?
I never installed it because I always worked alone; Now that I start having collaborators I have to decide.

First of all, yes, I use the vault 2010, that of the inventor package, to understand.
In fact, at first it is a little ostico, especially because it follows rules different from the file system of winzozz and you have to understand a little his philosophy.. .
Also used alone, according to me, remains a very valid tool as backup: when you arrive at a "milestone" of your project, you can archive it and continue; in case, you can always restore it from that point.. .

Unfortunately, I can not help you regarding the installation but, I presume, that you can install servers and clients on the same machine.. .

I come back on this discussion as I believe that the perplexities manifested by james bond deserve a deepening. I too, like many of you, address any project with the awareness that at a later time the need to reorganize the structure also acting on the i-properties of the individual components. I am currently forced to recall every single component to change its i-properties, or design assistant or more brutal by the resource manager. as jb says there is no possibility to customize the columns within the management board (the paradox is that you can do within the property card, which does not allow the manipulation of attributes). I repeat the question in hope something has moved: is there no way to avoid the vault and to act by customizing the management within the d.a., perhaps intervening on some hidden setting of the program or on some attribute of the project to which you are working? ? ? ?
