It is the first time I write in the cam section, so it is best to make a small presentation.
My name is gianluca and I work as a mechanical designer inj a precision mechanics company of the drill.
we have implemented sdw as cad and featurecam, swallowed by the possibility of the cam to read the features of the cad.
Now, after several problems linked to both our incompetence but above all to the total ineffectiveness of those who follow us, we have met with a problem that seems to be difficult to resolve.
In fact until now we have worked with models of fusion to only 1 body, managing therefore finished and crude.
now we have been asked to create the part program on a welded compoent. . . it seemed all in place so much the cad and the cam are integrated... and instead the management of sdw welds drives crazy featurecam and it seems that the only solution is to join the bodies in the end, so to have flat faces comlanaries, because although 2 faces are complanars I can not perform the work simultaneously. .
Would you like to ask if you had such a problem and how did you solve it?

It's almost a classic of cams, assemblies normally can't handle it as if it were a unique body (you need to join them) , logically it would be better to be able to 'unite' only in the cam file but I don't know if it is possible with fcam

but they still tell it is 'ball'? amazing what you do to sell ... was a 'new' 10 years ago, maybe.
recognition by now do it all but a good cam must 'see' the shape whatever it is and then propose the best processing.

I do not follow the cam directly, I follow the cad in r&d, so I do not know the provider of the cam.
But I found myself having to interact with the guys of the time and method for the issue on the welds I exposed above.
