Hello everyone,

I open this discussion because I would need a 2016 autocad advice.

I have the following problem: I create a 3d model of an object with holes, and after I generate 2d views that I need to place
in paper space. once in the paper space with the views generated, I would like to insert in the holes of cosmetic threads, but I can not find in autocad the tool for the management of threads.

specific that the 3d model from which I generate 2d views has smooth holes, since I created them by subtracting a cylinder to the rest of the piece.
I would like to insert thread marks only in 2d views.
I saw that autocad has, under the slide layout that appears in paper space, the standard drafting panel where you can set the thread style, so I suppose somewhere there should be also a tool for inserting and managing the same. on other programs I noticed that there is the tool for creating threaded holes.

Moreover, by double-clicking in one of the views generated, I open the slide section view editor, in which there is the voice edge visibility:
from this known drop-down menu that there is the thread features item, but it is always disabled.

when I draw only in 2d I have no problem since the threads I create them manually, the problem arises as already mentioned before when I leave from model 3d.

I would like to avoid passing every time throughout the thread of the creation of the thread in 3d with the spiral and then applying the cutting tool, since in the technical drawing the threads so detailed are used only if strictly necessary, and then I noticed that by downloading a 3d model from traceparts of a screw even there is the detailed thread in 3d, but only a cut to mark in what part and then it is all smooth.

waiting for an answer, I greet.

smooth autocad does not have tools for the management and creation of threads, neither in 2d nor in 3d.
probably the feature you're talking about (but I don't remember being the 2006 version) was designed for some add-ons.

I confirm that it is a tool never existed in autocad 'vanilla'. . Not even in the releases after 2006 of crystal

autocad 2016, not 2006...
Thanks anyway for your attention.
I'm working with the tools available to autocad to mark the threads in an alternative way. . I practically know that the simplified thread is a fake line in return compared to the edge
of about 1 mm, then I create 1 mm wide rectangles and length like that until the thread arrives, and I pitch them on the inner edge of the holes, so with some small adjustment I arrive to have the same a representation of the simplified thread (the same present in the mechanical drawing texts).
