Good morning to all,

I can't find out about the directive and the information about my problem so I opened this discussion. .

I have to carry out the documentation inherent to a “set of machines” but I have some doubts about the procedure to follow and how to divide everything.

the set of machines in question is in principle a production line in order to assemble, treat and test a cylinder containing gas.

These are my questions:
  1. being us as a unique manufacturer of all machines and almost-machines (robots and servomotors separately) designed, do you need to do a manual of use and maintenance for every single machine present in the line or just do a single manual of the whole line?
according to the answer you will give me:
  1. if you just do a unique manual of the whole line, why and how should it be structured?
  2. if the manuals of the individual machines and the manual of the line are to be executed, why and how should it be structured?
these questions are the consequence of doubts as:

being the line consisting of machines and almost machines but also from fences, structures, etc. going to realize only the manuals of the machines present in the line, I would not have a way to make known these other components.

being a set of machines in my opinion the manual of the line must be in order to give an overview of the latter, but in the practical field there are doubts such as:
  • while in the manual of a machine I go to list all the devices present on that machine, in the manual of a line what should I do? I eliminate these voices? specific to refer to the manuals of the individual machines? However, I would recur the problem that there are security devices even on fences structures etc... and redirecting the reader to the individual manuals I would go to leave this last one.
If possible it would be wonderful to have an example to follow and who knows something does not stop to my questions but to enlighten me as much as possible please.

According to me in this forum it is difficult to enlighten you, in the sense that if you lack the basics to write a manual, you should first study the subject.
to write a manual you must look at the res 1.7.4.2 of the directive but also the 12100:2010 (point 6) and the iso 20607 that will give you indications on how structural the manual.
He studies everything.
the line is a machine and you have to build the manual, describe everything.
I remember that a wronged manual is a non-conformity.
if you have the machine manuals already made, you will make a plant manual that will describe the set and the security systems you have implemented, attaching the manuals. If you don't have anything, you have to put all the machines and the plant.
There's nothing else to say.
Hi.

If you can't do this, there are specialized companies that only do this kind of work. it is best to let them do and eventually learn to be autonomous.

@macista, you have received answers, a thank you for the engagement of other users I would say that it is obligatory, then if you give feedback you look good
