the recent publication of the norm uni en 15037-3 "prefabricated concrete products - beams and blocks - part 3: brick blocks" (European official label c246/30 of 24 August 2011) has enshrined the dates of entry into force of the single block marking in brick. its application will be voluntary until 30 November 2012, and then becomes mandatory from 1 December 2012.
a 2+ certification system is provided, which involves for the manufacturer the implementation of the initial tests of type (itt), the implementation of a factory production control (fpc) and the preparation of a periodic control plan on the stated characteristics. the intervention of the notified body for the certification of the FPC and its periodic surveillance is necessary. The certification process is similar to that already experienced by manufacturers on the occasion of the marking of brick blocks for masonry according to the standard uni en 771-1.
a new application guide is now available to know all the news and procedures necessary to set up. icmq, the certification body of the construction sector, and andil, the national association of the industrial of bricks, have developed a vademecum for the certification of the production control in factory (fpc) for the purposes of the marking, for the interposed elements of brick for beams and blocks. the objective is to identify the criteria for effective management of production control.
In detail, the guide illustrates the requirements to be met for product and process verifications, as well as the frequency of tests and characteristics that fall within the framework of the marking. particular attention is paid to the criticalities that can occur in case of outsourcing of activities that affect the quality of the product: an example among all, the execution of tests and controls by external laboratories.
Finally, some important provisions are examined to be implemented until the time when the marking is not provided. These are the requirements deriving from circular 617/09 on technical standards for construction, which are intended to help manufacturers identify the parameters to be declared for the purpose of obtaining certification. the publication is available free of charge for Andil associates and producers certified with icmq, which can require it to icmq@icmq.org, commerciale@icmq.org o andil@laterizio.it.
