Hello everyone, I have a problem with solidworks, I beg that I am not expert on this software and I use it recently. My problem is that when I try to do an analysis with simulation xpress tells me that the modulation of elasticity of the material is missing and I also "obligate" to subject the piece only to pressure or force... I wonder how can I analyze, for example, a piece in birch by subjecting it to a cutting effort or a stinging moment? ?

siimulation xpress allows only certain types of loads (strength and pressure) and only one type of constraint (incastro). for the cut you can indicate the force on the cutting plane (as if it were compression) and then put it parallel to this plane (or anyway refer to plans to direct it). to simulate different conditions you have to invent solutions: thin extrusions for concetrated loads etc.
probably sw-set timbers are not complete as data, you should create a material, completing the properties you need.

actually it is not that it is usable in general as fem. is decent only for some particular case, and then the data is hardly understandable (you cannot change the scale, etc.). the cut speech was not clear: I wanted to say that you can put as load a force that is not necessarily perpendicular to the plan of application, but also parallel; to do so you must specify that the force is related to another plane, with different inclination.
if you need fem series analysis use a serious program, this in my opinion is just a toy put in the basic version of sw so that you can say it in the advertising brochures (even pro-e in the basic truth added something like that, even this little sectable but able at least to evaluate the assemblies).

I understood very well but really reflecting on your advice I had arrived today... vabbè I look for a good fem software, also because I had heard about nastran and catia quite well but catia is always dessault so I don't think changes much from solidworks instead nastran I have to see some forums... Meanwhile I renew thanks for the help!

Catia is a cad3d, I don't know if it incorporated a program for fem analysis. sw in its most advanced version has cosmos as a built-in fem program; what you used is 0.1% of cosmos. at university level we used ansys, but it is not cheap...in fact! regarding the fem analysis of wooden structures, in particular I don't mean to, you may ask in the appropriate space of the forum and they will certainly know how to advise you!

I have solidworks 2009 sp 0.0 and there is also installed geostar that if not erro is useful for the fem... I just want to figure out how to open files created with solidworks... Or maybe I'm wrong and geostars don't need it for the fem?

geostar is the old fem of cosmos, applicable to auctions and not to 3d. between the two software (geostar and solidworks) there is no connection, except for the property become common.
cosmos is a great fem, buying a simulation license you really do a lot, I know engineers who use it heavily and manage to calculate really complex structures.

I understand, but I was wondering why it was self-installed at the moment I installed solidworks, so I thought there was a connection in the sense that with solidworks you drew and dimensional everything with geostars you were just testing... but it's not! Anyway I install simulation so now I have to learn well to use it and I will do everything with that!! Thank you all for your help!
