Hi.
today I propose this survey, in order to understand the diffusion of the main drawing software in the field of metal carpentry in building

in the field of metal drainage; which of the following software you use, or having known it you would like to use?

I did not know travilog, in this field there is really a great variety of software. can I ask you the strengths that have given you to this choice, and if you present what limits?

travilog has the advantage of being extremely intuitive, as it is said user-friendly, simple, immediate, also has the advantage of having many dedicated modules, especially useful for those who do ing.civile, therefore nn me, but for example has modules dedicated to the plinths, walls, pillars, beams, soles to the calculation for the resistance to fire... I use only the module for the structures and limit that for the sections; According to me it is valid...for example, compared to sap_2000 it is much faster for simple frames it is really useful...in any case I think it is useful to know more than one also to have a comparison in the results of calculations or cmq having an alternative if you understand a case in which that sftw proves unsuitable. . .

possible that no one uses uesti sofware?
It is a discussion to ensure that all of us can have a clearer situation than market developments. If we leave in so few, we remain at the mercy of the proclamations of advertising.

you have forgotten about pro/e with its efx module ... very but very performing for this type of work.
I'm just saying that for information.

I have never seen pro/e live, so I really know little about it. I believe it is oriented to mechanics not to construction. Am I wrong?

proe is born for mechanics, but the efx module serves specifically for the realization of the carpentry.

the same goes for solidworks, born for mechanics, but with the addition of the steelworks package becomes a great cad for the carpentry.
also used alone (solidworks) with the intelligent use of welded and combined with a good pdm can do very well.
These cads, of a mechanical nature, are able to combine the verticality of specific applications with great flexibility in the case of out-of-standard joints or objects that do not lend themselves to the classic civil carpentry canons.

among the cads mentioned there is also bocad?

I forgot... I voted tekla, I don't have it, but my client uses it, and it seems valid.

I marked the excellent coupled autocad+prosteel ... great product, at the best price.
All the opposite of technometal, an investment made to save, the biggest trick I could take. I believe that now technometal is at the bottom...

doing some evaluation
Most users use autocad lt, in my opinion, of the low technological level of our country.
the other solutions are very fragmentary and sporadic, the votes indicated as read by the comments, are more than other wishes and not used software. between these
structural detailing, although very young has already reached (at least in appeal) competition probably thanks to the good name of the mother house.

I fully agree with claudioperri.
prosteel is the best for the cost. Probably technometal costs less but let it lose.

nb: I also wanted to add a note. I often work for companies in France, Germany, Spain and often find advance steel of graitec. www.graitec.com.
this software is very similar to prosteel for power but also has a module that is called advance concrete for 3d design of armor. I saw it and it's really a bomb.

most of the carpenters I know, although very handicraft, have almost all vertical products and only one ha autocad lt.
I think this survey does not reflect the true situation of the Italian market. ...

specific products for carpentry such as prosteel, tekla, teknometal, etc....

for what I see unfortunately is the opposite. all use autocad, often without 3d. more advanced products are used only for the architectural project, but obviously not with programs mentioned above. Perhaps this different vision depends on a technological gap between areas of the notro same Italian territory.

I went to the saie 2010 and here I realized that autodesk (in this sector), I do not think it has made great strides forward from a tencological point of view, but it has adopted a policy of extremely aggressive prices.
some solutions.

1) autocad lt 1'200 euro
2) autocad 5'000 euro
3) autocad + revit structure + autocad structural detailing 5'300 euro
4) technometal 4d + autocad 9'250 euro
5) technometal 4d + revit 9'300 euro
6) prosteel + autocad 12'000 euro (approximate price)

therefore the solution n°3 costs half the equivalents with technometal or prosteel products. also offer free update to the 2012 version.
ok maybe prosteel / tecnometal are more mature products, but they cost about double!

I would like to point out that:

more than the survey is has multiple choice and it is also specified to indicate which software is used.
It is obvious that many votes received from the most expensive and advanced software, do not represent the real users, but a desire for use.

I have been using tekla for several years and I must say that the price is high but the performance is equally remarkable. I also have to say that almost all the biggest carpenters have been oriented on tekla and if not mistaken should be + widespread in the world

I had the chance to use tekla... great... a little expensive, but... really great. .
