Hello everyone, I am an aerospace engineering student, for the thesis work I am doing, I should perform a static compression analysis on msc patran-nastran.
the model under review is a honeycomb model in which I am using 2d elements. because of the strong non-linearity (large movements, self-contact of the structure) I am using a sol 400 through msc patran-nastran. I know well that probably for this type of analysis is not the most suitable software but it is the tool I have available. what I wanted to understand, if possible, is to know how to use the technique of "restart" to achieve convergence. For example, in the case of higher load increases the analysis failed due to the narrow tolerances of convergence, the idea is to realize "restart" so as to gradually broaden the convergence threshold from the point where the analysis failed. I know that for the “restart” I have to use the master/dball files but I don’t know how to act on the bdf file to perform the “restart” in this specific case. I also wanted a council if initially disrupting or not the structure with a deformed amplitude similar to the first way of instability provided by a linear buckling analysis, so as to "help" the solutor to achieve convergence.
This type of analysis is new to me, I would be very grateful if someone would know how to describe the procedure in general.
Thank you in advance.
