to change an existing cartiglio I open a drawing and selections edit - background.
you open the background editing mode of the sheet and from here you can make all the changes you need.
or always from the background change context you insert - design - square and cartilage. opens a window where you go to choose the type of teaming you want to use among the macros already present in the cat and all the other options.
as you save a cartilage now I don't remember why I don't have the program under my hand and it's a bit that I don't use it.

2) for what I know, the most "clean" method would be to remake a macro, like the ones I suggested above, or change the macro from which "fish" catches;
3) for what I know, the background or "background" is, in the substance, a second table "back" the main 2d design. If you save a drawing with your new cartiglio in a cartiglio.catdrawing file, you can always copy it and paste it into your background. I don't know if you can create some kind of "detail" as it was on v4.

I think the best system is to create a cartilage in a4 format in edit background (I think you will have to create tables with a4,a3,a2,a1,a0 )
created the a4 format with its cartilage is saved for e.g. with name fa4 then open the a3 format and copy the gi cartiglio
