nx <-> catia v5

Good morning

I need to import a file nx 9.0.3.4 (I don't know what exactly it means, but this is the exact word) on my catia v5.
any of you have any experience in this regard?
would you recommend some software valid for a direct conversion, which maintains the solid characteristics of mathematics?
alternatively also with an intermediate step.

if the customer (or a colleague or friend) has nx with that version or higher, make a step (better if ap214) and then convert it with catia, the solid you get is not parametric, but use it without problems... (no iges)

if instead the file is an assembly of more xxyyzz.prt, then you have to export it and import it by setting correct parameters both on nx and on catia, so that the product maintains parts and positions and the speech gets longer...

but I will have to handle it by myself as I will receive only native nx files.
I would like to avoid buying unigrphics only for a trivial conversion!! ! ! ! ! ! !

So they're pains... For what I know, the existing converters are expensive and never work well (often the original models are saved or exported badly from the databases and this complicates things further), nx and caia, being competitors have never done anything to facilitate dialogue. I often had to convert entire cars, and necessarily had the 2 systems, of course that to convert a part does not make sense... I know there are service providers to support, who do so much to the kb.
even for those who follow us and would like to answer you, you should give an idea of the greatness of objects, maybe there is something cheap.

downloaded on the zw3d website the cad you can use for 30 days has the direct importer nx and then you can export it in caia 5 step parasolid directly.

Anyway, I've been thinking about your question about the product and................. Unfortunately incoming I will have to import single part, but outgoing I will have to export mandatory product, with attached positions and constraints! ! !

export with catia is not a problem, go to:

instruments/options/compatibility/step/export/step214 iso

1) tools/options/compatibility/step/assiemi/a step file (generates a single large step file containing product and parts)

or

2) tools/options/compatibility/step/assiemi/outside references to step (generates all step files of products and parts and conversion will be necessary to load the father)

solution 1) is suitable for small medium parts,

solution 2) to large export volumes (such as a whole car frame) and the correct functionality is sometimes linked to the import software, however just do some tests with what you have.

in the window you can export hidden entities or layers (see you)

export keeps colors etc. the positions remain, but the constraints no (the constraints are tied to the caty world, however it is not that the parts go "round")

I apologize but I struggle to retain my considerations, that a customer (who certainly has nx software) imposes to receive a file already converted, when for him it is enough to load it as a step and save it in its format, I think a shaky imposition (especially these times where customers pay little and software cost a lot) this has all the flavor of a coercion that has as purpose the provider to change system.
I think it is only justified for those who work with integrated database systems that only accept the proprietary format (otherwise everything would become unmanageable).

with nx you can export in various neutral formats (parasolid, step 203 and 214, iges) 'to free';-) if you have any doubts or special needs you also ask, use nx for about 20 years.
