Hello everyone,

I'm beginning to learn catia v5.
My problem is that when I want to access the online guide, or by pressing f1 or by selecting jude and following cat guide v5, I see the window "documentation installation path".
I can't open it soon.

thanks to who will help me

in the options under the documentation item you have to set the location of the online doc installation

I'm sorry if I ask, but did you install the guide?

i.e: when you installed the software you also put the two dvds of the online guide?

Good evening!

I read about you in the forum.
please tell me how to build equidistant lines perpendicular to a 2d curve? with v5_r21 I find only the "perpendicular line" icon at a curve that does one at a time.
Thank you.

Sorry.
but we went from a question to a request.. .
I personally don't think that's the right approach. . .
the prof of the noble asked you a question.. .
would be more correct before, answer and then, perhaps ask
if it can help you solve your problem-
I believe that the way to put yourself in a forum like this is
very important....

Hello alpole, I apologize with you and with the sg. of the noble for "intrusion" and that I have a problem to solve: to open a new discussion probably will not lead to anything.... what procedure do you recommend me?
Thank you.

Hello ccz,

It is preferable that if you do not find the suggestion open a new discussion with an appropriate title.

if you don't have any special needs (an amount of curves and points), you can do this:

create the curve
with the command repeat points create points
with double click on the command line so that the command remains active even after theok
with the new command, select the curve and the next point (until the end of the points)

let's say you save a click for each next point (this applies to all commands, i.e. with the double click "remain with the barrel shot")

Thank you so much, for now I'm going on like this. but I will have to find a solution (I suppose a macro) the lines also reach 300..
greetings to the forum

Hello ccz,

I tried to create the loop for normal lines at the curve (it's the first time I use a script, so you always check the final result)

open the file (v5r19)
deactivate the loop.1 (in relationships)
eliminates all udf in result1
in point1 group deletes all points except point.1
with the repeat command of points insert how many points you need
in double-click parameters list.1
remove all points
select all the points you have created
add the points you created to the list (and ok)
activates the loop
double click on the loop and then ok

find the lines in result1

Let me know.

ps for a moderator, if please can move messages related to ccz's request in the right area.

great!!! thanks gianni, the loop works even if:
I can’t “point” the lines on a new sketch, the result you see from the image, I can do it but individually.
Then, I can’t select the new bridges to add to the list all together (click _maiuscolo) but I have to select them individually.
However it is a very remarkable step forward! I would like to have some documentation to deepen the topic.
Thank you again.

Hi.
If you want to point the line of a new sketch, do this:

selections sketch.1
button dx replace
select the sketch.2

to select the points: hold down shift (cold up to the sides of the zxcvbnm row) and select the first and then the last point.

for Docs. As soon as I can prepare something.

if you can't send me the file and number points

Hi.

gains

thanks gianni, replacement sketch ok
strangely with edit open list I can not activate shift to select the new points, strange xche if I use the same button in the list edit window works , then I try with r19 hi

ccz, gianni
attached file with loop for repetition
of the normal line at the curve on n.. points-
the first script on knowledge pattern
to automatically create lists
udf inputs - ltudf-
i.e. points and plans -
if the loop is not attached to these lists,
that are commanded by the "npt" parameter that allows to vary the number,
there is no direct link between lists and parameters,
so every time you have to repeat the path that
gianni indicates in his post...( cancel, reform points .etc. etc. )
Automation means being able to govern with few
parameters , in this case "npt " and " length" the performance
of the loop... otherwise it would not make sense to create
In any case, the attempt at judiciary is appreciable. . .
just trying and trying to figure out how to improve you reach
The target.

Hello alpole,

I confirm everything you said: links must be directed and automated process.

waiting for your file, I wanted to try a quick solution to the ccz problem, which although in a frankenstein version worked.

I don't have the skills to judge your programming skills in the casket, but in many years of work, I've never met people who knew how to master those modules so well, so for what it's worth: good!

thanks to you, your advice and examples I managed to do something; the online guide of catia at times clear and explanatory, but sometimes dark and approximate, on the programming demonstrates all its inadequacy, with little clear examples and with references to cryptic paragraphs (it seems almost has been written by the powerful mind of a computer who wants to be very careful to preserve the elite and exclusivity).

sin! so much effort to enrich the software of great possibilities but little disclosure and availability of fact impoverish it.

for exercise I have remade your file in v5r19, so that it is usable by multiple users.

I'm going back to study on Monday.

Thank you.

ccz, gianni and all the others to which the subject is concerned,
following the saying " less it's more "
I send these two demonstration files that, in some cases,
and this is one of those, you don't need to create a udf and a loop
to create automation -

in the end we just have to start some lines.....

with a script , made in the environment knowledge product template ,
you can get the same result with a minor
expenditure of means (features)
and also that, using kpt, you can get the same result
with different scripts

in the first case with the script I create several lists (-points and line )...
In fact, to think, we only need normal lines.
at the curve, as a final result
in the second case I created a single list (line) for the result of our interest-

the rules entered, serve to unify the result
in a single list ( result of the sum of the kpt list and that of
containing the missing initial line, manually inserted,
for further use

there are also more complex vb script ways to get the same
result, for the moment I am satisfied with these

good deepening
to the

ps-un thanks to gianni for words expenses

Hello! Okay, that's great.
the lines I need for special work with the cam: projection and then tool path.
Now I would like to create everything in 3d, I know that it is the opposite of what is done normally, but as for the engravings first I create the writings (profiles) for the cam and then use them for the 3d.
where I can find documentation about it also xthat I do not know if to start from the ltudf-kpt or resume in hand the lt udf-loop of gianni and alpole I would like to have a list of script commands otherwise I understand little (I stayed still at the autolisp-autocad years 90)
Thank you.

C.C.
It's not very clear what you want to do. .
I think I understand that the lines you need from path to create
a solid, which I think you will have to add or subtract to another body-

If so, I personally recommend using the lines, collected
in the list, in knowpattern node, to instigate a udf (or a part template, if you work with a product )
to say that:
udf instancy can be done, with a loop or with a kpt script, without this being saved
in a catologist arm,
in the case of the loop, only if it is created in the same part document.. .
and in the case of kptsolo script if you are created
at the same time as its creation, a script type.....to be saved in the appropriate folder (type custom) ;
while the listing of a template part can only be done in product environment and provided that
has been saved in an arm catalog..
to tell you that,
at this point, the thing I recommend and the following:

creates a udf that has as drive input only one line, creates your shape, attention using
only the line as unique (parent father)
, name it, and save it

If theudf is a solid, to create it you have to use a boolean assemblies, that is to say you have to add
your solid result to an empty body....,
and at the creation of the udf you must point the node assemblies,
after which you can proceed to instigate it, grouping it in a single body
with a loop following the steps I illustrated in the post (shape design & styling- project line in a solid)

Unfortunately, there is a limited and limited document on this subject, as it has been dated from 30 to 20 years, and in some cases it has been smoky.
I can tell you that the online guide of knowledge advisor-knowledgepattern environments
to make you understand some basic rules and syntax to use, perhaps on the net you will find something that
I don't know much depends on your degree of preparation.
greetings and good work
