open autocad dwg file with inventor

Hello.
We have the following problem:
after creating a 2012 autocad file we must invent it 2012.
from the inventor menu we open acad and choose the file (about 1.7mb), the conversion does not end. from management Windows 7 resources it is noted that the inventor process occupies 98% of the ram and about 12% of the cpu but does not conclude conversion. Could it be a resource problem?
the characteristics of our pc are as follows:
cpu i7 2600 3.40ghz
ram 8gb 2000mhz ddr 3
hdd sata 3
sk video gf gtx 560 with 2gb dedicated memory

our section works with inventor 2012. It happens that sometimes they send us files built with autocad and we have to editate them with our inventor.
