Dear users, designers, students, children and those who have more of them.. .
I have given an eye but I have not found similar discussions, if something has already been said let me know.
Given that my point of view is thermotechnical designer, I have been thinking of creating my own standard for autocad, including styles, quotas and even a palette for layers.
right here is the question: how do you catalog your layers? And why? What drives you to a choice rather than another?for example from known experience that there are different philosophies to organize all the possibilities that autocad offers: there are those who assign colors from 1 to 9 of the different thicknesses forcing the black print color with a special ctb.

I prefer to keep the colors of the ctb as the object, while I manage the thicknesses with appropriate layers maybe all named 00 "nomelayer" so that I have them first in the list, so I can print without ctb avoiding misunderstandings in email sends.

High consideration, inside each block I use always use the color "from layer" and if I need the color 45 I create a special layer "00 color 45" with color 45, so if I have to adapt a design to a certain standard I just have to act on the layer control instead of going inside each block.

as you like and express your philosophical views on the fantastic world of standard cad.

thank you in advance for every tip.

ordering and cataloging layers is a fundamental step for the optimal management of the work process. However, there is no general rule for selection and management of layers, the question also changes depending on the context in which it is working and the complexity of the project. However, it is clear that a well-organized work denied the creation of a large number of layers, for obvious reasons that I am not here to list. as far as I am not working in any area, but I use autocad by passion and because still today is the most widespread software cad in the world. I always prefer to create layers not in a design model (dwt), but when I begin to realize the real project, using filters by creating groups or layer properties. the blocks I create them on layer 0 and with set the dabloc property, because this allows me to have a complete control of the same (for example when I intend to change color, thickness etc...). same speech when I define quota styles, tables etc... imposed the dablocco property.
I have no special needs in the press that push me to use the stb, which remain more versatile than the ctb.
Finally I always prepare custom dwt models, with annotation scales set to work in mm, cm or m, depending on the needs. I always create few styles, i.e. those I use and really need, this not to weigh too much the design model, and as for texts and annotations I always use the annotative property, which saves you a lot of time and avoids you to make continuous calculations for scale.
That's all! I hope I've explained...
