partial sections

is it possible (and how) to create partial sections of a product consisting of two parts?
For example if I have a wire prism that inside it contains a cylinder, I would like to create in the 2d a section of the only prism in such a way as to make visible the cylinder inside. When I try to "section" I cut both solids. ♪
