Good morning to all, my name is matteo and I am 27 years old.
I've been working since I graduated from the technical office of a small medium company producing machinery.
I wanted to ask you for advice, in the hope of not posting in the wrong section.
in my current company, we use autocad mechanical 2014 but a few days ago, after sending a resume to another company we say "competitive" I received from this a job offer that I admit, in these last nights literally took away my sleep.
a brief description of my current work: my manager, he practically never taught me anything except: "take that aid, change this and this and you're good" or: "copy from this design that is identical."
Now, I find myself with this tempting job offer but as it is not in my idol to tease my neighbor, I find myself in the situation of finding myself in a company with 15 people in technical office almost all mechanical engineers (where I work now we are in 2) with skills equal to their level and who use a software (creo direct) of which I did not even know existence.
the technical director of this company, explained to me that with a week of course and good will, I will learn without problems to use their software but in your opinion, is everything so simple?
Unfortunately (I don't just want to blame others, I first reacted to this situation) my knowledge at the planning level is really poor for the reasons mentioned above.
because of a bearing rather than another, the sizing of a motor or a transmission belt has never been explained to me because here vige the rule of it has always done so and it has always gone well then copy and do not worry and it is precisely for this reason, that I looked for another job... to not find me at 40 years to be a simple tyrant who does not know why things he does.
But now that an offer really came, the fear of failing and hearing me say: "But in all these years what did you learn?" began to take over and I don't really know what is right to do for my future.
I said that, without being amorbarvi too much with my personal paturnie, in your opinion... at my age, with so much good will, there is still hope to become a good designer starting almost from zero or now as you say... Did the train go?
and then, according to you, switch from a 2d used model "computerized technique" to a 3d to the level of direct creo... how difficult and possible will it be?
Consider that in these days, I have searched for tutorials and web information to understand so much to begin with, the difference between a parametric software and a direct modeling and if I have to tell you the truth... I didn't even know what it meant! !
In your opinion... Should I accept my limits and refuse such an offer of work (as if it were from heaven, I believe) or are still in the right age to try this new adventure? ? ?
I apologize infinitely for the time I have made you lose and thank you in advance for your patience.
Matteo
