Bye to all,

I just started using inventor 2010, I found myself immediately pretty well but unfortunately I can not make any fold.

I created a sketch like sheet metal and then I extruded it by 4 mm. always with the sketch function I designed the fold line that reaches up to 2 edges (as from guide inventor)

I launch the fold command, select the fold line, a fold radius of 2mm but always gives me the same generic error of impossibility to create the fold. I also tried to make a simple rectangular sheet and fold it in the middle, but nothing. I'm sure there's a stupid thing I miss. ! !

You used the term "extruded."
What do you mean, you did it in part environment and then converted into sheet metal?
If yes, it's okay, but when you convert to sheet, you need to ensure that you have a thickness equal to extrusion height.
Then, the fold radius should put it alone and typically r=thickness.
You can even set it up when you fold, but that also makes me think that you have a sheet thickness other than "extruded". ...
That could be the problem.

Thank you very much, that was the problem. I created a sheet metal project from the beginning, I thought extruding it of 4mm the program already knew that the thickness of the sheet is 4mm!!! I clicked on default sheet values and put 4mm thickness, everything worked properly.

Thank you!

ok, however, when you do a sheet metal part, start immediately with the sheet model, do the sketch, just get out of the sketch immediately give the thickness value and then do not go into modeling to extrude, but, directly in sheet, use the "face" command that is there specifically to "extrude" thick already set....

Thank you!

Is it my impression, or are the 2d sketch editors of the cad3d programs very Moroccan? Sometimes I find it difficult to do particular 2d sketches in these environments, while I do them very easy and fast in classic autocad. . .

bhof....this habit. . When you've taken your hand, you'll get your sketches out of your car.
