I hope I don't put an argument already resolved.

I have a 780mm diameter circular steel plate welded inside a cylinder. considering an admissible voltage of 160mpa, I calculated a thickness of 28mm to endure a pressure of 5 bar with coeff.sic.2. I would like to reduce the thickness of the plate by putting triangular sez ribs. How can I set the sizing?
Thank you.

be careful if it is pressure components the design and/or verification are done according to recognized calculation codes, for example asme viii div. 1 or en 13445!

Hello canappia,
as responded by aminati + eurocode 3. However you will be almost difficult to go to do an analysis with the hand calculation of this structure. or better is feasible but with all considerations of the case. less complicated to check later with a fem. However, you must also check the welding and do not know if it is enough in class ii, see appropriate certifications.
