I downloaded the artlantis plug-in to put in the plug-in folder.
Once I download the material I find a folder with the plug-in and more. question: Is it enough to put the entire folder inside the plug-in folder or do I have to place the plug-in in some specific folder?
I did some tests, but I don't get anything on the menu, so I ask for lumens!

put the entire folder inside the plugin folder.
I recommend you in what is located: home-> library - application support -> vw2010 -> plugin. but also the plugin folder inside the application folder.
once copy the folder close vw and reopen it and then go edit your workspace... that in Italian will be perhaps... scheme. between the commands you find artlantis, you should insert it in the export menu.
I do.

I did it and in the export menu the commands appeared
artlantis preference
material of the file
assign objet material
artlantis export

Is that okay? but in Italian is not possible?

yes is correct
no in Italian no.
I only use software in English (vw, the creative suite, etc), so it all seems very simple and natural. but for the export options of artlantis objectively there are no big difficulties. . .
I do.

I do.
Now I have to run, you will have to, please and when you have time, which will explain to me how to properly export and how to create the model.
I'll explain. in domuscad, if I take a solo I can attribute to each face a texture or material (color). in vw, working by categories, I did not see the possibility to attribute colors but only textures. If I give a filling, this is associated with every face but it is not what I want to get.
How do you do that?

or extract a face as nurbs surface and check it to a different category. or create a second overlapping loft, you basically have two thinners instead of one belonging to two different classes. to today the loft is still not configurable (which we have already told our...) :-)
I do.

I do.
and the same goes for the walls! I cannot use improper terminologies on the forum but the opinion that I have of this limit is really appropriate ... trust me!
of the series if I forget to extract some faces I have to make so many changes and reimports as are the forgetfulness. I'll have a reason for it, but it's really a missed opportunity. I tried to make a modest internal rendering and it really becomes slow project management. with my car is unmanageable. to the first render in artlantis I place you something.

I disagree with the walls. especially now, in vw 2010, with wall sculpting it is possible to get a lot from this object.
Then, it is obvious, parametric objects all have some rigidity, but going ahead with the knowledge of the program you also learn to find the most appropriate solution.
Fortunately the export plugin for artlantis allows the flight to update the model 3d, so I do not see big losses of time. considering that often here I get variations of the project even while I'm already making... I mean, now I have a certain experience of continuous changes in geometries... windows that move, or change module, or change the color mapping of the windows in the facade... This has happened to me recently on a 14-storey building. I can tell you that experience teaches you to deal with things quickly. :-)
However, in years of work I learned that in renderings you always cheat and that it is almost impossible not to pass from photoshop.
personally carry out for classes and check materials in artlantis. if I see that some objects are not in classes... Sorry right categories or reassign them from artlantis or return to vw, I will fix the thing and ambush export.
I do.

the same method the adotto with domuscad, I know the procedure, only that this type of management is more direct with domus and already from its inside, diversifying colors (materials), I have a perception of what I will elaborate in artlantis. on this point, until now, I see myself disadvantaged in the method. I do not forget, however, all the other pluses.
But at this point I have a question. What do I need to renderworks if I have to export by categories?

the fact is that I was told that vw was necessary to attribute the materials to the individual faces. what not true unless you use the textures that however in export, if I have not understood bad, you lose.
I understood that through vw it was possible to "color" the model so that then in artlantis, recognizing the colors (materials), it was intuitive to allocate the textures.
since, if I have understood correctly, they do not attribute colors/materials in vw at best I was poorly advised.

I don't know, I never tried.
I often use renderworks, attributing textures to objects, especially to realize how the 3d model is evolving or for the calculation of shadows that I must then draw in photoshop. but when I take out in artlantis, I check the textures directly there. true is that a solid, for example, red in vw is red also in artlantis.
I do.

coloring of red a roof is not useful since it will give me red also the intradox and the eaves. Unless I'm a world-famous futurist, I see it hard to promote the renovation of a farmhouse in my rural country.
I still want to clarify with those who read that mine is a purely practical issue that does not absolutely affect the goodness of the program, let's say that some functions could be optimized to increase intuition.

what you say is absolutely true, as well as the fact that sometimes you have to ingegnate to overcome some limits of the software. but with practice you will see that everything will be smoother. :-)

with time and patience I will be able to produce quickly. cmq this software surprises me every moment with particularity that I did not imagine.
Now I wait to finish the first project to see what I can extrapolate at the level of documents like electronic sheets, legends and more!
