porada furnishings srl, a leading company in the field of the production of accessories for furniture, and poly.design - consortium of polytechnic of Milan, with the patronage of adi, Italian association for industrial design, launch an international competition of ideas for the identification of innovative design solutions for the domestic environment, in which the use of wood prevails.
the contest is aimed at Italian and foreign designers and creatives (singles or groups) with the aim of identifying innovative concepts for an original collection of products and furnishing accessories dedicated to the domestic environment (living), in which the use of wood is prevalent and that vehicles the values and identity of the porada brand. wood can be combined with metal, glass and other materials and possibly integrated by technological devices.
judging and selecting the winning projects will be a jury formed by well-known experts in the field, including arturo dell'acqua bellavitis (preside della scuola del design - politecnico di milano), luisa bocchietto (president adi - association for industrial design), fabio November (designer), roberto de paolis (designer - politecnico di milano), brunouk ( managing director porada furnishings srl), miche
in the evaluation of the processed products, the jury will take into account their originality, the degree of innovation and research of new design solutions related to the processing typical of solid wood - from experimentation on materials and surface finishes - but also of the most strictly functional, ergonomic, safety and environmental characteristics of the products, the ability of the projects to define and anticipate innovative use scenarios in the use of the wooden furniture and the contemporary accessory with particular regard to the technological determinants
the jury, whose works will end by 31 January 2013, will choose three winners who will be awarded during a dedicated event.
the total prize pool of 7.000 euros will be divided between
- the 1st ranked (4,000 euros),
- 2nd place (2,000 euros)
- 3rd (1,000 euros).
the winning projects of the contest can also be realized and possibly produced by porada at a later stage.
