hello to all, my name is stefano and I am geologist (a little fish fuor of water here:) ). I normally use gis and am an average user of autocad lt, which I used for the management of tunnel projects along with the geological cartography I made; I recently took a progecad license that solved many raster management problems (and compatibility with the latest releases) and looking a little bit the characteristics of the sw I was passionate about transforming into 3d some of the designs I'm handling, at least in the essential elements. But I am totally zero of notions on the 3d: someone can tell me a manual for beginners "to try stupid", as they say, to approach the topic? My goal is to start with drawings in the plant, of which I also have side views, try to realize a 3d sketch to use then, for example, on googlearth or to simulate the location of the plant (it is drilling plants). I have asked here the question because I did not find a general "principles" section, I may ask the moderators if I may possibly reform the question in a more correct section. Thank you!

You're right:redface:. I thought progecad because it's what I run these dwg with. in general I open them, simplifico them (damn around the private 3d files of the z, so they are to be refurbished to manage them in a gis, maybe I have to delete 30 gb of blocks and linear elements :d) and then beat them in arcgis. I also installed blender but I haven't had time to think about it yet. progecad I've seen that he has some 3d chances, I think that's enough. Meanwhile, I have to understand how it is better to generate solid objects, I realized that there are at least three different methods but I have no idea of the differences then in management and purpose. I am a total niubbo :d!
Thank you.

with bim software (and then .ifc format) you can do what you want and dialogue with any software. as bim (i.e. speaking the .ifc language), not everyone is actually bim
