hello to all
work in a mechanical company that makes structures of sheet metal and welded profiles
We draw / design in 3d for several years, but we still carry out only hand calculations (or computer but still analytical).
Given the need for a numerical validation of some complex structures, we would like to start doing finite element analysis.
I proposed to use abaqus, because I used it at university times, but they told me to try to see open source programs.
did you ever use open source programs that do fem analysis? if they are reliable? Can I import cad models (type of solid edge or in some exchange format)?
thanks in aticipo
