I happened this design, in which on the quota lines, there are these symbols that look like an equal, and that I have highlighted with red arrows.

I interpreted as saying that the two distances are equal. but is it a correct method of quotation? in the workshop should you take into account to find the unknown value?

or did I not understand anything of its meaning?

it means that the holes must be at the same distance from the edges...it was a way to indicate the "symmetry" of the series of holes (in this case) ... now exceeded for a long time .. if there is one thing that taught me where I worked before is that method of quotation should be avoided, because, among other things, it does not facilitate the reading of the design ... to the more should be replaced the two = with the two quotations (one of which

the correct method is that of the center line actually (for example see message 16 discussion https://www.cad3d.it/forum1/threads...-modifica-tramite-fresatrice-a-portale.52836/) .. I did, deployed in the workshop and systematically look at me as an alien unfortunately... see if one day our heroes will be able to correct old habits??
