in our company there is a computer available to the workshop on which we copy cad (usually catproducts composed of a few hundred parts)....
the problem is that on the computer they put us on the hands of the unexpert people of catia and so often happens that inadvertently changes are saved that will make the cad useless to their reopening (for example they are deleted (or modified) of the parts from the product)....

is it possible to deactivate the saving function and close the files?? ?
or is it possible to make cads as objects only to open and on which no change can be made?? ? ?

Please note that in the workshop you only need to take some measurements and/or see how the various components are placed

dx button on the file / property then select the option "read only" then apply.
Obviously you have to do it for all files to one by one.

Yeah... this could be a solution but the files are hundreds....
other solution, perhaps acting on catsetting?? ? ?
anyway thanks for the help

depends on how in the workshop they cuff on the model.
if you always select the main product (blue color) then just block it.
depends also on the structure of the model and how much in the workshop enter the part.
I don't have any experience.

in the workshop often happens that they enter the parts and open them in a new window....it happens that the less experienced change inadvertently something or make some changes... .
When they finally call back the caty part asks if they want to save the changes and the disaster is done.

if you make dx key on the folder that contains all files, properties / advanced , selections "read only" and selections in the new window "app...and all files"

Hi.

I think there would be 3 solutions:
1. leaves the files where they are located but with the administrator windows define for each untente the rights of reading, writing etc. . . easier if they define the rights on a group and consequently enter the users in the group.
example:
- builders can create, edit, save etc. all files contained in x folders.
- "unexperienced people" can only read the files

2. uses a viewer, but I see it hard because if you don't have the ability to educate users on cv5, I don't see how you can explain the viewer to the same

3. educate non-expert users and use groups with various rights so you have more quality in all senses. invest in time but it will be spent well.
