revit 2010: how to change a family from within an open project?

I have installed for a few days the new version revit 2010
My problem is as follows: change a family of a component already included in the project. in the manual is written:
- select a family instance in the drawing, and then click the edit tab <element>, family group and choose family modification.
- in the project browser, right-click the family and choose edit.
clear description, but at the time when selecting the object in question, the only tab I can open is that of "ownership of the element"> change type. where this tab is located: </element>change <element>, family group and choose family change</element>sorry in advance x the banal question! ! !

I answer myself: I was a perspective view from where the family editing tab was not displayed!

nice question, I am wondering if you can change a family, but staying within the project itself so as to keep the reference points (in the project) that I need.

open it, work on it and save it with another name, if I understand your problem.

only in case it is a local family,otherwise the change always happens through the editor of families outside, then, of the project file. Moreover, families which can be loaded by their own nature should be spent on multiple projects, and therefore released from internal references to the project.
