Hello, I'm a new member.
I'm just using revit and I'd like to start reluciding some projects already made on autocad but with irregular walls, I read various discussions about how to do but I didn't understand much, there are those who say to use local model component and who says to use the architectural pillars creating a family.
I do not know if I have been clear, I thank you in advance for your clarifications and apologize if I have created a repetitive discussion.

If the "irregular" walls are just a couple you could also opt for in-place modeling but given the fantastic ability that have the architectural pillars to "integrate" with the walls I recommend using the second hypothesis!

thanks to the answer, it is an old barn so the irregular walls are very much.
tell me where I can find a short guide to change the architectural pillars

Hi.

Indeed for irregular walls depends on the type of irregularities to decide which system to use, I believe that the criteria are these until proven otherwise

1) modification only of the facade profile of a system wall is made direct in revit
2) Irregular wall but with the same base section for the whole height (extrusion ) or base section + height section (union ) in both cases change of the facade profile (empty ) is created as a local component e.g. walls (simple model )
3) the impossibility of creating with a surface in autocad e.g. generated by 3d lines with the loft command imported it in revit and creating a surface wall
4) the impossible for those who do not settle in autocad with 3d profiles generates an object with the loft command and import it in revit. but while a surface wall in revit you can remove it, with an imported object you only change the color.

to be precise imported objects both 3d objects and surfaces must be imported into a
local mass component, walls or generic model by erasing it after using it to create a surface wall.

Thanks for the answers I will try.
but how can we change the architectural pillars?

the pillars of the system family, like all system families, cannot be changed, but only change the parameters,
create a new pillar with the family editor and import it as a family or change a pillar already made (external family) always with the family editor

in any case you have to learn how to use the editor in case you simply want to create an object or in the most complicated case you want to parameterize it

this center little but is useful for the structural pillarshttp://docs.autodesk.com/revit/2011/ita/filesusersguide/wsfacf1429558a55de60db08103595c5234-7feb.htm
