I think the pdf 3d is very nice. consider that you can export the whole model with all the textures and view it integrally with the acrobat reader (to understand what we all have on our pcs).

Then I allow myself to break a spear on this "light" of the learning curve of allplan. I think I'm "chats" put around art to counter a software that, always according to my humble opinion, is very valid and powerful. but you know... I'm an allplan user and so I'm definitely on the side.

as regards the initial theme save in previous versions, the answer is Yes. allplan manual source (free of charge from connect portal):

each version saves data up to 3 previous versions. for example 2012 saves in format 2012, 2011, 2009 and 2008. if necessary, as a service, the neme converts your data even in very old versions or vice versa (something tested by my father who started working in 1996 with allplan v10 in unix environment)
come avviene? file -> save by name -> file ndw 20xx (exactly as when you want to pass a word file 2010 *.docx to someone who has a previous version *.doc) or, if multiple files have to be saved at the same time there is a specific tool of conversion (allmenu -> file -> converted in previous versions...).
Why is it important to be able to save in previous versions? simply because often, it happens to me, I have to work with other partners who have unregistered versions.
conclusion: It is essential that software saves data in previous versions. . .
