There is another unknown technique, which exploits the characteristics of the ole objects.

1] open the image for example in irfanview

2) ctrl-c and close irfan

3] in autocad, ctrl-v

4] in the properties of the glued object, set lock_aspect=no and then have fun with the stairs in height and width.
