Hello everyone,
I am new to this forum, I write because it is different time I try to find a solution to a problem that blocks me in using revit.
I'm using this software at a didactic level and I think I'm in the first place. My problem is as follows:
I'm trying to build a revit family within which an alveolar panel is represented to be placed within my main project which would be a prefabricated shed. I designed the panel section and then executed the extrusion. the problem is that once the family imported into the main project, it is not possible to decide the length of the panel, which remains fixed to that set during the extrusion of the family. I would like you to behave like beams and walls, that is to say that you can choose a starting point and one of arrival and the length of the various element according to the need. I don't want my family to have a definite length, but that fits according to how it is inserted in the project. beams, walls and even examples of panels similar to what I would like to realize, already present in revit, do this, while what I try to realize remains a definite element, as if it were a block. I have tried in every way, I am not experienced of parameters and reference plans, but I guess both in these the solution of my problem, only that I still can't find it. Could someone help me?
thanks in advance

you need to use a line-based family template, even generic template, then change the category on the spot

Hello, thank you so much for answering me. Could you, however, be more specific? What do you mean by "based on line"?. Can you describe the operations I should do more in detail? Thank you in advance.

when you create a family you are asked for a model of departure (.rft); choose the generic line-based template.

p.s. given your answer I highly recommend you take a course or study properly how the families loaded in revit work, because I fear you only have a vague idea
