slow loading with autocad 2005 of aerophotogrammetric files

I have a problem with autocad 2005 , every time I open a file that is big a 12 mb I realize that to load it takes more than 20 minutes , these files are of reproductions of aerialphotogrammerie of some provinces of napoli and we wondered if it was possible that it would take all this time , I press that the files reside on a server and so I can also understand that it takes time to open them computer,

Could you give me some advice to speed up loading? thanks

the computer hosting the 2005 autocad is a quad core with 4 gb of ram and windows xp.
