Hello everyone

In addition to my design role, I have also begun to take care of material orders.

I would like to know if someone knows a good software that allows me to:

- register for code and dealer a product
- have a price history of a given product
- to be able to make queries, in my current case, it is about
to be able to highlight products that, although of different brands, they do me the same function. and more generally the classic database filters (by customer, by date etc.)

the management we have now does not manage all this (I would lay a pitiful veil ).

or a generic management?
I would say that of management I have seen many, with the pros and cons for which the ideal would be able to first test it.

If you mean a "pure" management, then the serious ones do everything you ask.
some more direct, others a little less, but they do.

the only problem, at the usability level and also of costs, could be given by the fact that usually the managements are conceived to modules and that of the orders normally goes to add to the basic one (accounting-invoices) and for the functions that you require in some also the module listini and that warehouse.

coming to the products (I only speak of those I know for direct use or because used by some my client or supplier)

price 399 base and 499 gest. Lots.

pregi: packaged program, buy (or download) and install, relatively low price, online assistance even without paying annual fee,

defects: not suitable for those who manage large volumes of data (different thousands of items of anagrams or annual movements) and since it does not involve a fee of annual assistance there is the call that in case of passage to a major release (e.g. when the rel.9 is released, if you want to continue to have the updated sw, especially for those who use it at a tax level) you must regain the package. There is no real telephone service dedicated to the individual customer, in the sense that there is the direct line, but operators only give very standard answers, almost as if they read the help of the program itself.

price: ask zucchetti, but for the order mod. they serve those accounting and warehouse and it would be better to have also the distinct base. in total we will be on the 950/1000 euros, to which the annual fee is added, which should be around 450-550 euros.

pregi: very "solid" product (to me in 8 years crashed only 1 time and they recovered practically all data) and that it has been on the market for over 15 years (before as a company sga), with park installations of some tens of thousands of licenses. possibility of expansion at any time by purchasing additional modules. "open" type archives (.dbf) which then allow direct or odbc interface with any database management sw.
custom print generator already incorporated, very versatile and easy to use. in more zucchetti has, for a fee, a library of several hundred fawns and reports suitable practically to every need and to every productive sector.
patch and tax updates very punctual, with release of 1 or 2 minor releases per year (you get the cd with the courier) + different service pack and development of a major release approximately every 2 years.
complete technical documentation (when there was the paper manual were over 300 pages) and always aligned to the latest version installed.
impeccable technical assistance, with direct dedicated line that also responds to Saturday morning.

defects: essentially the cost. all the above you pay, and quite salty, given the prices I indicated. added that for 2 years it is mandatory to sign the contract of assistance and maintenance, already from the 7th month after the purchase and that in lack of renewal the program ceases to work (for new movements) at the end of the 6th month after the expiry of the contract. in practice, as for many other swhouses, pumpkins lives on the canons of assistance and while with a cad one can "get down" to a certain stop and continue on foot, with a management that you plan after a certain day, the company is practically blocked.

we now come to 2 open source products, which I am testing and among which by September I will choose what will replace the g1.

geanet http://www.fborghi.it/pregi: complete product (perhaps too much, see below), which contains in one module all the "management slip" necessary to a company, from the most normal things, to the management of staff presences (but not the processing of payrolls) and electronic storage.
no installation required: you disappear everything in a dir, you install the net framework (if you don't already have it) and the program is ready.
also available a portable version, which turns on a pendrive.
no purchase cost and possibility to download the sw and use it immediately without any limitation. the possible registration, to have the personalized prints, has a practically irresponsible cost, it seems to me under 100 euros.
it is however possible to subscribe to maintenance at very "human" costs. practically 1 euro per day.

defects: given its "too completeness" personally I find it un navigable and often many choices and functions are almost "annegated" in kilometric menus (there is or I couldn't find it, a function to customize the screens more strongly.
Turns on platform ms framework, and therefore it is almost impossible to emulate under linux.
technical assistance only through the dedicated forum.
complete technical documentation at the presence of each single function of the sw, but very, too, tightened on some parts, especially at the operational level.
developed by a small swhouse, which could also disappear from day to day. But the g1 was also out of a company of 3 people... and it would matter little if one uses it only for internal and non-tax management.

open management (go) http://www.gestionaleopen.org/index.phppregi: equally complete program, but perhaps a little more structured than geanet (it has the customization of at least the most used functions).
same possibility of downloading (after installing the db engine, it disappears and uses, without installation) and unlimited use, but only for the previous version than the one currently in use.
alignment to the latest release is possible only to users under contract, which also here has a very low cost, on 450 euros/year.
other advantage, if maintenance is not renewed the sw continues to work, except that it becomes impossible to update it.
presence of various service points (pa.go) in Italy, with which you can directly subscribe the assistance and that can intervene (at the cost) directly onsite in case of customizations of the sw or conversions of the archives from other sw.
This would suppose, but it's just my impression, that the licensing park is far superior to that of geanet.
here is also a dedicated forum.
not least, possibility of choice between 2 db engines (firebird and mysql) which gives the maximum flexibility even compared to the used s.o (ride on linux in mysql version) and in the cases of mono or multi-user.

defects: besides the aforementioned "cropping" of functions, I noticed some problems of instability, especially under mysql. problems that from the forum seem well known to developers, but that still exist still now.
I also find that some functions, such as the data entry cards of the accounting, are little practical at the level of immediacy and that lack of that kind of ia (self-completion, automatic positioning on the 1st record with the inserted string, etc.) that on the g1 allow me (allowed) to charge even thirty accounting movements in an hour.
documentation quite lacunous at the description level and even latitante (recurring presence of the classic phrase "voice in preparation") for some functions, even important.
