Hi, my name is alessio, I'm not sure if I'm in the right forum.
collaborate with a company that produces moulds
for tyres. through the artistic cad topography, project the lettering that will then be engraved on rings in fe or all, in practice I manage all the writings and logos that are seen on the sides of the tires.
the software I use however, has no parametric functions, and therefore most times I am forced to re-start the work from scratch (obviously with the fonts already created earlier). to make it short I would like to know if you are aware of parametric software that manage in a parametric way also fonts, in order to be able to start from a drawing already made and resize it maintaining the characteristics of the unaltered font (height, spacing between letters and words etc...).
at the fair a couple of years ago, they promoted an application for catiav5 of a text editor (type3), but neither who sold type3 nor who sold caia, I could make a practical demonstration to solve my problems, I didn't give myself any confidence (obviously inherent my problem). If anyone could give me advice, I'd be grateful.

we use both catia v5 and type3 for engravings of texts and logos. I can confirm that the type3 interface in catia v5 allows the edition of texts in a simple way without reconstructing everything to any modification.
on the web you should find films that can convince you about its use.
we currently use:

I send you a very simple example of what I realize.in this case will be wrecked a pneumatic 195/65 r 15 with the writings h=20 thickness border letter 1.2 mm step internal strips 1mm, aligned on a ø654,04.
if the customer asks for the same type of engraving, but for a tire 195/60 r 14 with a ø of alignment written 720,10 (it is an example), the program allows me to recover the writings as they are (i.e. distance between the letters, words, characteristics of various thicknesses etc... and even the quotation) and re-allinear them on the new ø with a command?(excuse my ignorance in this matter).
i dis. that I do then are managed by an operator who realizes the paths and affects the pieces, so my designs must be in scale and comply with certain rules otherwise they are damage!!! !
this you see is a very simple example, the engravings I make, have many + writings and various logos.

si type3 with the interface allows to manage the spaces between the characters without reconstructing and recalculating each letter.

we use it for clock crowns and funds of a watch carcass and it works just like that!
