Hi. I am a designer and I work in 3d with rhino.
the only defect is that rhino works with surfaces and is difficult, for complex objects, give thickness.
Could someone indicate me a modeling software that is better to create objects to print later with a 3d printer?

Hi, ivan.
doing service with a 3d printer I got to know that there is no specific software, but the difference is only in who uses it.
I get rhino files that are wonderful even if extremely complex and fear files with simple geometries.
the same thing also happens with other solidwork type cads, solidedge, proe, ug, cad etc.
If you really have these problems, the only alternative is to test or make demos from those who sell them.
But be careful, all the software I have listed cost you much more than rhino, but they probably do well in some things and sin in others.

In short, the specific solution cannot be limited to giving you a name, you have to check on your own which is the best comportion for both your work tpo and the budget available.

Good morning, sorry I'm new to this forum.
I should save (or export) a stl file in any openable format with inventor (stp, igs, parasolid etc.). I don't know how to do this. they advised me rhinoceros (and that's why I write here) only that if I open the stl file and try to save it in another format I say that "export does not support polygonal mesh, 1 non-exported polygonal mesh". Obviously if I open the generated file with inventor the file is empty.
Can you help me or can you please tell me where I can post this message?
Thank you very much
soon
alessandro

The problem is right there
a stl file consists of a set of triangles more or less thick depending on the export tolerance.
so as rightly tells you your software is a mesh.
inventor imports solid geometry (step, iges, parasolid ) or surfaces (iges) which are not the same.

ok however rhinoceros allows to export a stl file in stp iges etc etc. the problem is to understand how to make it...but there is another program that is not rhinoceros that does this thing?
I wrote an e-mail
Thank you.
