Hello everyone,
I have this problem: 3d solid model from which I have to obtain a model made only of surfaces to be able to then analyze it with sw fem. with inventor I use the "copy" command and, after selecting the surfaces I need, I make an offset (to get the "medium profile" after which I throw away the solid).. but with solidworks how can I proceed? I am not experienced with this modeler but if inventor succeeds, he can also do it sw...in particular I am asking for a hand to do something similar to what I do with inventor but also other "procedures".
grazime thousand in advance for help!
Hello
p.s.
I had opened an identical discussion last night but no one answered, imagine why it is not displayed in "home". I'm sorry, but I don't know how to cancel it!

you could autocad export the solid like 3ds and then reimport it from the 3ds file and you have your surfaces!

Good. So, just to have a more manipulative procedure, imagine having an extremely complex solid (like the one I have in my hands) of which I am interested in certain surfaces, according to your procedure I should then delete all those I don't care...know another way?
thanks anyway for the precious info

you do not have to delete those that interest you, simply explode the solid fact of surfaces, click those that interest you and copy them on another design!
difficult to see what you have in your hands if you don't put at least one image!

ok, thank you....unfortunately I can not post images because it is an object of a famous Italian company. . .
Thanks anyway, I try to do what you suggested!

I did not understand your origin solid with what program did you realize it/in what format it is; autocad or solidworks or inventor or what else?
anyway in swx do the same thing you say with inventor (and maybe better/with + options); try to see if in this discussion you find a solution:http://www.cad3d.it/forum1/showthread.php?t=15356&highlight=superficieand perhaps it would have been more indicated to post also this your question in the forum of solidworks.

ohhhhhhhh great!discuss me but I'm really not practical to spulciate in the forum...I only saw "general code" and so I opened here the discussion....sorry.
the file in principle is a step or sat no longer remember....the fact is that at work there are different software and few licenses.. . .normally I use inventor and so I do what I descrtto but when they give me the posting with solidworks I just use that point!I used in the past swx but only the part of modeling "banal" then obviously the commands learn them when you need it and start to spulciate between the different curtains...the fact is that I didn't really think of a 0 offset and I looked for the copy command (which if I didn't mistake
the discussion cmq that you indicated me is really inherent to my problem and is more than exhaustive!thanks a thousand for the indications!
I hope I can be useful too when it will be necessary!
