Hi:
as already mentioned in the presentation are a new user of solidworks and solidcam.
I wanted to ask you what opinions you have about it and maybe do as it was done for solidworks: insert here useful links and real things.

a first question is this: can postprocessors change with the already in possession or need something specific?

postprocessors think they are editable, they are in the directory gpptool. take one that looks like your control and test...

If you want advice, though, since it's not a video game and that the "game over" on a cnc thick times coincides with the head rubbed on the bite, let them make them tailor by who sells you and assists the program. He'll know a lot better than you know how to tell them not to mess up, and especially if something's wrong, you can call it into question and demand something working.
"Default" posts may also go well, but many times are generic and do not ensure 100% compatibility with the version present on the machine.

p.s.: I still move the discussion to a more consonant place, in the forum dedicated to cams in general. you will certainly have more info and more competent people (the cam I use it only occasionally, even if my experience comes from 10 years cam processing on toptron).

I will definitely follow your advice.
the fact is that we have been trying for many years completely "hand-made" programs and so optimized that any operator working on the machine manages more or less to manage.
Therefore I wanted to bring to the same level also the programs made with the cam, only that if every time I have to make a change to the postpro I am forced to contact the specialists employed a life to get to the middle.

for me it would be a manna from the sky to find maybe tutorials or guides to edit postures also thinking that I manage 3 different types of cnc controls.

Here, you have come to the question cad-cam.
to do what you say it takes a lot of time, and the nice is that time you have to put it, I have definitely worked much more than who did the post to me (I also had to pay it ... )
to optimize a fanuc 3 axes of a palletized working center, with some custom drilling cycle I put more than a year, since then the problems do not arise all immediately, then depends a lot on what one claims.
the best way is to leave everything possible in standard iso, so as not to mess up life with infinite changes to the post, or to learn to change them alone (it is a little hard but you can do).
Besides, the posts are also a very profitable source as you are obliged to keep the assistance until you have optimized it (so I don't see why you run ...) , if you have to make changes over the assistance then they are pains .
In short, as in all things, it takes a lot of experience... and if you don't have the money, time losses, collisions, etc.

are the files with .gpp and .mac extension? What software is it to open them?

Unfortunately my experience is not with solidcam, each cam has a different tool to configure posts.
solidcam should have gpptool that's needed to set up posts, did you try to run it?
.gpp and .mac files open them quietly with notepad but without the appropriate tool to write them you do little.
Does assistance not give you information about this program? and how to use it at best.

As for solidcam our dealer, if I don't remember badly, he told us that their posts also sell them to those who have no assistance and in case of problems they fix them the same without aggravation. Of course, those in assistance have another priority and post discounts, but they don't force you to renew the contract if it's just a post to settle.

knowing well the cnc programming (I wrote prog by hand for 6 years also in 3d, before moving to the cam) but not knowing the structure of a post-pro, how difficult it is from 1 to 10 edit a post-pro? is there any documentation?

Good morning to all, always dealing with solidcam I hook up to this tread to ask you a few things.
I have never used a cam so much less I know the programming g.
for now project equipment and since I am getting a cnc to 5assi, I am evaluating the purchase of solidcam to be integrated in solidworks. I wanted to ask you experts if you can use a cam without having basic programming g (of course if there is something to learn are available, I do not claim to learn in 2gg) and if the program in question is in Italian. also if you are aware of courses in northern Italy
