start the cam

I have time to devote to the study and I would like to learn how to use the cam, or rather, I would like to have a little more precise idea about the use of the cam.
I have sent pieces to the processing, I know what tolerances are, how a milling machine works, a lathe but I have never seen the use of a cam software.
You know how to start me? Internet resources, free programs?
I remember that I don't have to go to work, so I don't need to know the speed of rotation or advancement of the cutters with all the materials with the various cutters, but I'd like to be able to simulate a rough workmanship from the finished piece.

depends on what you want to do. I have approached the cam recently and what I understand is that according to your needs there are solutions for your portfolio. If you want to just walk, it seems to me that lazycam (of the suite mach3) goes well and is free. paid I know edgecam and solidcam, both addin for solidworks. If you want the gcode for a frieze you want to do, it changes a bit

I want some material to study on, I don't want to know how to create a perfect program, I want to create a glass in a lathe, and spy on and drill a part with a frieze. If I could do something like that, I'd be satisfied.
