solid use.
By reading in this forum, we talk about the comparison as "catea is the big brother" of solid.

I looked for myself and looked at some cat's video-tutorial.
on the first 97 video tutorial files, on creating and managing objects, is identical to solid, they only moved the icons from above to dx and created a mouse-key combination that creates hand cramps all the time I roar an object:biggrin:
before you continue to watch the remaining 100 videos about, because "with catia you can do anything" or "solid is the easy or commercial version of catia" or things like that.

Sorry for the usual post-newbies-confuso!

the difference lies in what "you want" to do... if you want to manage the complete design of a car with solidworks I see hard ... with caia instead it is possible, mercedes, bmw ferrari use caia ... solidworks manages to manage complex assemblies with thousands of pieces ...? has a strongly oriented and integrated structure towards plm? ... the same between solidedge and nx ... nx is used by fiat, gm, ford etc... nx has, moreover, catia environments of very advanced surface modeling, which fall of average level do not have ... I refer to modeling of surfaces in class-a etc. as well as the ability to manage huge assemblies and fit perfectly with plms such as teamcenters or in the case of enovia catia! ...
other high-level software is ptc ... I think these discussions have been faced hundreds of times ...
video tutorials are used to learn certain commands, but the difference you see only when you work ...s and work for Moroccan workshops with swx or inventor or if you may be able to break a nice contract even as an outsider to work that I know ... in maserati or the duchie ...

Try to believe!

However, learning for good one or two parametric cads such as swx or inventor is a good way to launch on more advanced products ... and consequently perhaps ... paid a "more"... even if ... we cross dark times :frown:

ah behold! a vision of the problem outside my mental reach:biggrin: and the problems I usually face.

Thank you.

disagree with ib.
being under the same roof is not synonymous with me coming here and you from there forward.
both the siemens and the dassault have a plm that integrates in the same way both with the middle and high-end cad.
the difference is not in the management of large assemblies.
nx and if they are based on the same kernel.. .
sw has an excellent management of the great assemblies.
Catia perhaps more, if even more complex to understand and use for the simple reason that they have two different kernels.
the difference lies in those tools necessary for the design of specific products, such as cars, aircraft, ships.
if instead automatic machine projects, then sw and if they are born and developed for that type of product and behave better than the big ones.

I have had a 15-year experience of catia (starting from v4 and then v5) and I must say that, trying also other sw (nx and proe), catia v5 allows you to manage parts, even with complex surfaces, very well, allowing you to change a parameterized piece (if made with criterion) also radically and very well.
then I went to solidworks putting myself into my own and the passage was very easy, so the logic of the functions is very similar but even if it has a great value for money but has its limit in the surfaces since to what I discovered they have completely different graphic engines but on the contrary it works very well with solids and already has many design aid included in the price (cinematic, basic fem, etc.).
even if they are of the same ds family are not very copatible between them (no one of them has a direct converter... amazing! ! ! )
for last a big neo of catia is obvious the price... also considering that with a basic package you do little and you have to integrate it with one or more additional commands licenses. . ) that only large companies can afford it. . .
