Good evening, I came across a problem from which I can't come out, I have to study the contact areas between rollers and beams.
I immediately thought of using hertz theory, considering the cylinder-plan case, in which with a simple formula it is possible to find the contact area, the fact is that this theory considers the normal force on the plane that I unfortunately do not know, or better I also have other stresses.
to make you understand I attach a sketch
...... how does the moment take?
not solving the previous problem I thought of using ansys v14 to make a contact simulation between roller and track, (I followed the tutorial I found on the forum http://www.mece.ualberta.ca/tutorials/ansys/at/contact/contact.html), but I block creating 'main menu > preprocessor > modeling > creating > elements > surf / contact > node to surf I think this is due to the fact that the element type I have on ansys v14 is different from the example. Have you ever studied anything like that? ?
