I'd need the base of the surface to be flat so it fits with the red sketch
I also tried to compel differently (Figure 34) but I can't get the desired result

clarify the concept: how does a surface be curved and have a flat base? a surface has no thickness and therefore cannot:
to have a base
b be curved and flat simultaneously
