Hi, guys. who of you knows how to calculate, the time of residence, of the polymer to be transformed into a cylinder of plasticization? for thermoplastic injection presses?
beppe hi, that I know there are no formulas to calculate the time of residence of the material in cylinder plasticization, the complexity and variability of the calculation go in function of temperature set of the machine, size of the injection group, any profiles of screw, type of material....... .
hi dade, cuffing on the web I found a formula, but I don't know until it can be efficient.
residence time= 8xd screw diameter; divided: injection stroke; x cycle time.
I didn't understand what the 8 was about.
Can you help me?
beppe ciao, the formula you reported me immediately intrigued and I did some tests to verify it, I bring you comparative table of the molding of 2 pieces gemeli with equal molds on different presses.
screw press x iniez sec/cycle = medium temp
550 5400 90 8 153 42 197,6 235 °C
400 2000 80 8 222 42 121,1 245°c
consider that the material used is abs and even if it remains 900 sec or + in the cylinder nothing is serious.
I have also checked with presses + small and different materials, but the final results do not change indeed worsen with extreme times not true with my experience.
Hello and good evening.
Let me know.
