vectorworks e 3d

hello to all, my name is nicola and I am a first year architecture student, at the bari faculty. I write here desperate because, after a semester spent trying a peaceful approach with autocad/mac (both for mac and partition), I aired everything and decided to try to use vectorworks 2008. by arrangement for 3d modeling with sketchups (with discrete and more than enough results - for now), I am trying the path of work vectors to try to specialize in this and exploit it to the best. I tried to follow numerous tutorials, especially zetadierre, which helped me to orientate, but I got stuck on 3d, starting from lines and polylines. I know that the 2008 version needs the use of 3d polylinea for the object to be adorned on any plane, but the rest? please someone of good will to write two lines for a proper start. Meanwhile know that as a student you can request the latest version of vw, 2012 for free: http://www.videocom.it/services/vw_up_studenti.aspx.
the 2008 version is obsolete and lacks the features you need.
Meanwhile, if you design architectural objects the best thing is to use parametric objects, walls, floors, etc. these are already defined at three-dimensional level.
with regard to the two-dimensional and sufficient polygons extrude them or convert them into 3d polygons having the agreement to position themselves in the correct view. example, if I have to draw a loft they place me in the view from above, I draw the polygon and extrude it always from the view from above. if I have to build a particular window, the model placing me in a front view instead.
Once you become three-dimensional entities, in any other view you position me, I will always see them properly oriented.

I tried 2012 without a serious approach and so I kept it. Do you recommend your use? Is it more complete for my needs? I forgot the presence of watermarks that, as far as I can tell, are often prejudiced in the presentation of a table

If you're a student, a small watremark, I don't think you're prejudging your job. Although, unfortunately, there are teachers who demonstrate poor intelligence. . .
It is clear that with the latest version you will find yourself in an environment that manages more "actually" elements in three-dimensional space and solid modeling.
with 2008 you can still make a base, but it is very back on 3d and is not supported by the last os, so it is unstable.
